2003

• The Lisa legacy, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. On the Lisa's 20th anniversary, we should remember how Apple's innovation paved the way for all future computers.
• New PowerBooks, Safari, Keynote, and other things to wean us from Microsoft, Dirk Pilat, Down But Not Out. Microsoft makes too much money to abandon Mac users, but that doesn't stop us from running alternative software on our Macs.
• No USB 2 for iBooks, StarMax questions, System 6 on a G3, PCs faster than Macs, and more, Charles W. Moore, Miscellaneous Ramblings. Also sources for WordPerfect for Mac, saving Web pages as plain text in OS X, changes with GMX free email, AppleWorks/MS Word compatibility, and more.

2005

• Is the Dock a hopeless kludge or just in need of a few tweaks?, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. Tog things the Dock is a mess. I like it, but I think there's definitely room for improvement.

2006

• Apple's Intel transition smooth, paves way for next big thing, Leaman Crews, Plays Well with Others. "With the Intel Core Duo processors two to four times as fast as the G4s and G5s they replace, plenty of native apps, and the reported outstanding performance of Rosetta for PPC emulation, a majority of OS X users could make the switch today and be better off for it."
• File sharing nightmare with OS X and the classic Mac OS, Nathan Thompson, Embracing Obsolescence. If you need to transfer more than 2 GB of files from an OS X Mac to one with the classic Mac OS, none of the usual methods are going to work. But there's always FTP.
• iTunes 'mini-store' shares your music data with Apple, Adam Robert Guha, Apple Archive. The iTunes 6.0.2 update adds a 'mini-store' that recommends music based on your listening habits - and that means it tells Apple who you are and what you're listening to.

• The value of the overlooked $999 2.1 GHz MacBook White, Charles Moore, 'Book Value. The Unibody MacBook has been getting most of the press, but the $999 MacBook White with its SuperDrive and proven design provides great value.
• MacBook White (nVidia). Apple quietly updated the polycarbonate MacBook with GeForce 9400M graphics and a faster system bus while retaining FireWire and Mini DVI.
