About High End MacHey, what happened to Low End Mac? Have you guys gone nuts? No. We realize that the future of the Macintosh platform is intimately tied to the future of Apple Computer. If you don't buy a new Mac every now and then, Apple suffers financially. And wouldn't you hate to be responsible for Apple's demise? Shoot, you'd never be able to buy a new Mac again if they went out of business. We firmly believe that we act in enlightened self interest when buying new computers instead of holding onto our old ones for another year or buying a used Mac to replace our even older one. Not only that, but we're mercenary about it. People who hold onto their old Macs for 5, 10, or even 15 years just don't spend the kind of money advertisers are interested in. They want you to buy a new car, buy the latest Mac and peripherals, take a vacation, and gamble away your life savings at online casinos. They want your money. Not only that, but we need their money to survive. We believe that by changing the emphasis from getting to most out of older Macs, we will attract a wealthier demographic, which will attract advertisers with deeper pockets. Apple survives. Low End, er, High End Mac thrives. Advertisers feel good about their investment. So what if you can't afford to "buy new every two" - that just means you're not the kind of people we want visiting our site. Go find someone who really cares about your pathetic old b&w compact Mac. We're going for the money that will allow us to buy new Macs every year. If you can't afford that, we'll be happy to sell you an archive copy of Low End Mac on CD-ROM for just $99.95 plus shipping. Starting April 1st, you're just not going to find that information for free on the Internet any longer. (Well, if enough of you are willing to subscribe to the content at $12.95 per month, we might consider putting it back.) We're not nuts, just greedy.
