RasterOps Paintboard Professional

The RasterOps Paintboard Professional card is a 12" NuBus card compatible with 680x0- and PowerPC-based Macs running up to System 7.5.5. It may be compatible with higher versions of the Mac OS, but no information is available at this time.

Details

The card provides standard QuickDraw acceleration and supports the following resolution/color combinations:

• 640 x 480 up to 24-bit
• 640 x 870 up to 24-bit
• 832 x 624 up to 24-bit
• 1024 x 768 (at 75 Hz) up to 24-bit
• 1152 x 870 up to 24-bit

Software

RasterOps video card drivers can be downloaded from the Mac Driver Museum, where ShrinkWrap disk images are available for RasterOps Graphics Install v3.2 and v3.3, MoviePak, MoviePak2, and VideoTime.

Notes

• RasterOps claims this card is only compatible with the Mac II, IIx, and IIcx; I don't believe them.
• Compatible with G3 upgrades for NuBus Power Macs.
• With the addition of a DSP daughter card, it will also accelerate Photoshop functions.
• Like the SuperMac and Radius cards with AT&T DSPs (or DSP options), the DSPs are probably not compatible with Mac OS 7.6 or higher.
