Radius Thunder GT
The Radius Thunder GT card is a 7" NuBus card compatible with 68K- and PowerPC-based Macs running up to Mac OS 8.1. It may be compatible with higher versions of the Mac OS but no information for Mac OS 8.5-8.6 is available at this time, and it's doubtful that the card is compatible with Mac OS 9.
Acceleration/Resolution/Color Support
The card provides standard QuickDraw acceleration as well support for an optional daughterboard, which turns the Thunder GT into a Thunder IV GX series. The Thunder GT (without optional DSP card) supports the following resolutions in 24-bit color:
- 640 x 480
- 832 x 624
- 1024 x 768 at 75 Hz
- 1152 x 870
In addition, it supports the following resolutions in 8-bit color:
- 1152 x 882
- 1360x1024
- 1600x1200
Software
- Links to Radius and SuperMac software on Gamba's site.
- QuickColor 3.3 (part of RadiusWare 3.3) works fine under any Mac OS up to and including Mac OS 9.1.
- Dynamic Desktop crashes the Mac OS at startup when installed on Mac OS 8.6 or higher. SwitchRes (shareware) works to change resolutions instead.
Notes
- Optional daughterboard is incompatible with Mac OS versions over 7.5.5 according to Radius. QuickDraw acceleration remains compatible.
