The iMac G5 was a design Jonny Ive had wanted for quite some time, and after the iMac G4, Steve Jobs gave him the go-ahead for putting the entire computer behind the display. Every iMac since then has followed the same kind of design.
There were only three generations of iMac G5, but the same design continued into the Intel Mac era.

- 17″ and 20″ 1.8-2.0 GHz iMac G5 (Mid 2005)
- 17″ and 20″ 1.9-2.1 GHz iMac G5 (iSight)
