Quadra 610 DOS Compatible

Overview

Take the fairly popular Quadra 610, add an IBM-compatible on a card, and you have the Quadra 610 DOS Compatible. Apple introduced this as an experiment, to see if there was sufficient demand. Production of 25,000 units was quickly snapped up by the enthusiastic marketplace.

• 4MB RAM, expandable to 68MB using 80ns 72-pin SIMMs; motherboard has 2 SIMM slots, which can be filled independently
• 512KB VRAM, expandable to 1MB
• ADB ports for keyboard and mouse
• DIN-8 serial ports on back of computer
• DB-25 SCSI connector on back of computer
• one PDS slot (occupied by DOS card)
• upgrade path: Power Mac PDS card, Power Mac 6100

Cautions

• Serial port limited to 57.6kbps; use of a 56k modem is not recommended.
