The 5G iPod touch uses the same 4″ widescreen display as the iPhone 5 and the same dual-core Apple A5 CPU as the iPhone 4S. It was also the first iPod touch available in colors other than black and white and the first to use the Lightning port.

5G iPod touchOverall, the 5th generation iPod touch had six color schemes: black and slate, space gray (which replaced black and slate in September 2013), white and silver, pink, yellow, blue, and red.

With 512 MB of system memory, twice as much as the 4G iPod touch, and a dual-core processor, the 5G iPod touch is quite a bit more powerful than earlier models, essentially matching performance of the iPhone 4S. It was also the first iPod touch to support Siri.

Its 802.11n WiFi was the first to support the 5 GHz band, and it was the first iPod with Bluetooth 4.0.
