1992

• Performa 200 introduced, a relabelled Classic II meant for the consumer market.
• Performa 400 introduced, a relabelled LC II meant for the consumer market.
• Performa 600 introduced, using a 32 MHz CPU on a 16 MHz data bus, which seriously crippled performance. Performance was further compromised because the PDS socket deliberately prevented the use of a level 2 cache.

1999

• Apple site block solved, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. Yesterday we uncovered an obscure access problem with Apple's web site - today we've found the solution.
• Wanted: Custom iMacs, Evan Kleiman, Mac Happens. Apple should offer multiple speeds and configurations of iMacs, including build to order.

2000

• iBook 366 introduced. New colors, new processor, FireWire, more speed, lower price.
• iBook SE 466 introduced. DVD, new color, new processor, FireWire, more speed.
• New iBooks a better value?, Dan Knight, The 'Book Page. The new iBooks are better than the old ones, but how do they stack up for value?
• PowerPC 750CX, the heart of the new iBooks.

2001

2005

• ROKR iTunes phone definitely not an Apple product, Dan Knight, Mac Musings, Motorola did a few things right and a lot of things wrong in designing and marketing their new iTunes-compatible cell phone.

2006

• Using FireWire Target Disk Mode to install OS X on Macs without DVD drives, Charles Moore, Miscellaneous Ramblings. Two methods for using FireWire Target Disk mode to install OS X on a Mac that can't read DVDs.
• 30 days of old school computing: Increasing battery life with a RAM disk, Ted Hodges, Vintage Mac Living. When using the hard drive, the old battery ran out of juice within 30 minutes, but running from a RAM disk it still has a 50% charge after half an hour.
• Small networks: Apple's AirPort hardware trumps the competition, Ed Eubanks Jr, The Efficient Mac User. Creating a wireless network with a range extender was a nightmare with other brands, but Apple's AirPort Extreme Hub and AirPort Express were plug and play.

2007

• The future of G3 iBooks in the Age of Leopard, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. All of the G3 iBooks can run Mac OS X, but which ones run it well? And which version should you use?
• Apple's consumer Performa line, 1992 to 1997, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. Apple decided to pursue the average consumer by renaming existing Macs, bundling them with software, and putting their colorful boxes in regular retail outlets.
• AirPort Extreme interference robustness explained, 1 GHz G3 upgrade, new OS X image editor, and more, Mac News Review. Also picking the right Mac, Microsoft's wireless mouse with 1 GB of flash memory, Revolabs wireless microphone with iListen, Opera 9.5 for Mac reaches alpha 3, and more.
• Gold plated MacBook Pro, Seagate's 250 GB notebook drive, Hawking 108G WiFi card for OS X, and more, The 'Book Review. Also TechRestore partners with FedEx, Logitech's compact notebook speakers, keyboard remapping for MacBooks, a new case for the 17" MacBook Pro, and bargain 'Books from $130 to $2,688.

2009

• Retro clamshell iBook case returns for modern 'Books, Charles Moore, 'Book Value. Originally designed for the clamshell iBook, the Classic Case from MacCase is back - and just right for 12in and 13in iBooks, PowerBooks, and MacBooks.
• Kodachrome, the Olympus Pen, and the new 'Digital Pen', John Hatchett, Recycled Computing. Kodachrome was the gold standard in slide films, and Olympus Pen SLRs were a great way to shoot it. The new Olympus E-P1 harks back to that legacy.
