Enable two-finger scrolling on your pre-2005 ‘Book

This may be old news.. but I just only recently stumbled into this! If you’ve ever wanted to enable two-finger scrolling on your pre-2005 PowerPC ‘Book – there’s an app for that.

iScroll 2 is a modified ADB driver, it works with Mac OS X 10.3 and up (although a certain version of the driver requires Tiger). You must have a 2003 or 2004 model year ‘Book, most models are supported according to the website.

This app installs as a .prefpane, allowing you to try different settings

Unsupported Models

Although this driver is a modified ABD driver that’s open source, it won’t work on every PowerBook made.

  • Titanium PowerBook G4
  • PowerBook G3
  • 867 Mhz 12″ PowerBook G4
  • iBook G3

Note from website: “The trackpads of the older machines simply lack two-finger detection capabilities completely, whereas the models that have scrolling built-in use a completely different, USB-based trackpad, the driver for which is not available as open source.”

Installing

  • It’s super straightforward, you reboot, and everything’s good to go.

Once it’s loaded up
