Did you know you can control your PowerPC Mac right from your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad? Before it was pulled from the App Store, there was TouchMouse by Logitech. While the computer-end server apps for Windows and Mac OS X have continued to float around, the iOS IPA has all but seemingly disappeared.

After spending some time digging into what’s needed to remove my old Apple ID from this IPA, I figured I’d split this article into two. Once I manage to get enough time/focus needed to get it done, then I could make a part two. For now, this article is about the app itself and what it can do.
I downloaded this in November 2010. Perhaps a few out there still have the app on their Mac or iDevice, but no search term seems to bring anything up online. The original website has since been taken down. This app was also reviewed by Austin Evans in 2010.

Setting it up
The Logitech Touch Server app works on Early Intel Macs as well as PowerPC Macs with either Tiger or Leopard. Truthfully I only ever used this with Mac OS X Leopard, even back in 2010.
- The downloadable IPA file unfortunately must be cracked or bypassed for now. For users on iOS 6, there is a bug-workaround which doesn’t require jailbreaking. An update to this article may be made in the near-future where a cracked/working version of the app is uploaded here as well.
- Be sure your Mac and your iDevice are on the same LAN wifi connection.
On your Mac
- 1. Download the file and Unzip, then drag the app into your Applications folder. The linked file has the IPA file, but my Apple ID is still on it (if anyone out there has time on their hands and they’re willing to try and bypass this on their own before the Part 2 is out).

iOS 6 IPA decryption trick (if you download this now)
This works on the condition the IPA is already on the iOS device, is simply prompting the Apple ID, and is not guaranteed to work. Some apps seem to get by with this, whereas others don’t work at all.
- 1. Install app
. - 2. Launch it
.. - 3. Lock device as soon as it launches
. - 4. It should bypass the popup, you can crack the app
. - 5. If it didn’t work remove the app from recents and try again.

. - After skipping the prompt, the app should work as usual until you reboot.

iPod touch + Power Mac G5
I initially bought an iPod touch 4th gen in 2024, got the app and old iCloud account synced to the iPod touch via iTunes/Finder on Mojave on my Mac Pro 3,1. Wasn’t able to get he iPod Touch to sync on my Power Mac G5 via USB somehow, and the 2006 24″ iMac with Yosemite also wasn’t helping either.

The never-ending journey of restoring lost media
As websites and servers are taken down, files and hyperlinks associated with those are taken down as well. I’m sure I’m not the only one with a copy of this app, but it seems like the internet has all but lost this. Feeling thankful to have saved this little gem, returning it to where it belongs – in our community. While this IPA file doesn’t have the ID removed yet, it’s a sign this app isn’t totally lost.
Here at Low End Mac, we believe in the long term value of Apple hardware. You should be able to use your Apple gear so long you see fit, and we want to help you maximize the life of your Apple gear. While our Software Repository is not the most expansive collection, it is a part of the continual effort, comprised mostly of bits/apps we found useful or have stumbled into on our own accord.
