Intel CPUs are added to the Tech Specs

In continuation of the expansion of the Tech Spec article and information index on Low End Mac, all Intel CPUs presumably ever shipped with a Mac have now been added to the tech spec index!

This effort involved the creation of over 220 new articles and an unusually long index list page as a result – so the icon view for this list will be added later. For now, it is accessible in list view.

We may eventually expand this index to being outside of what shipped only on Intel Macs. Over time more information can be added outside of what’s been built so far such as die size, transistor count, etc; Let us know if you have suggestions on other bits you’d like to see in these intel CPU spec articles.

This effort is also in tandem with an ongoing effort to update older articles as was mentioned before – by listing out the details of all the Intel CPUs used by Macs we can fill in the blanks suck as iGPU clock speeds, PCIe versions, lane availability, etc; which were previously not present in our articles. It also gives us an opportunity to clean up a vast swathe of older Intel articles (particularly CPU info), so it reads more presentably and discernibly.

This also means we can start going into all our Intel Mac articles and reference specific CPU information back to our own website.. but for now, this index list is the only way to click your way through. The idea also came when I noticed a bunch of older CPUs on Intel’s website ether get wiped completely off but are still indexed by Google, or a bug causes them not to show. In any case, there is an opportunity to preserve information that could be lost.

Currently, our CPU index is a work in progress and may seem tricky to navigate. We have detailed information on all the old world PowerPC CPUs, 68K Motorolas, Apple Silicon, and now even all the Intel chips.. all that’s left to be added are new world PowerPC G3/G4/G5s. Below are instruction on how you can access this list through our site’s tech spec index.

We hope Low End Mac continues to be a resource for all throughout the years, especially as it continues to grow and evolve through 2025 and beyond. With this addition and others, we aim to perpetuate this vision.

P.S. If you see anything unusual, incorrect, or if you have info to fill in the blanks, please let us know!
