Picturing an iPod touch 4th Generation from 2011

Looking back over the years.. many smartphones, iPod touches, and mp3 players shared slight iterations of the same rectangular design centered around a touchscreen. Many contrivances were iterated upon over time to get to where we are today, but not every device was so memorable.

Right now if you have a 4th generation iPod touch, it will be a throwback to an entirely different era – one with skeuomorphism, 30-pin iPod connectors, and the last non-retina MacBook Pros. These iPods are left at iOS 6.1.6 officially, so it’s easy to pick one up with this older OS.

They run cheap on eBay in late 2025 (~$17+), and make a perfect device to control your PowerPC Mac with, or play the old iOS game. Some are more depending on storage capacity.

This is more or less a functional accessory to the Power Mac G5 with the Logitech TouchMouse app, as well as being a portal into nostalgia. It’s not used frequently but I power it up to make sure it lives.
