As you all know, Low End Mac strives to help you get the most out of your Mac, to maximize the life of your Apple gear, upgrading only as necessary or desired. With many devices left out of the fold, it’s only natural for one to find alternative ways to upgrade past Windows 10 especially if it’s more recent hardware – especially if it can handle it.

Recently, Greg Hrutkay put out a video (which I watched) on how to get your Freshly unsupported Windows 10 install to continue getting security updates until 2032 by converting your install from 10 Home/Pro to IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021, which was taken down. Others have also made similar videos which were taken down as well, and YouTube isn’t telling them exactly what’s wrong.

What is happening?

• Google’s community guideline system seems to be controlled mostly by AI. You used to be able to talk to a human being about the situation, but not anymore. This is reflected by Greg, CyberCPU Tech, and others.

• Videos are removed because it did not follow youtube’s guidelines for harmful and dangerous content, according to the AI. It said: “Again, the warning strike you received was issued based on a violation of Harmful or Dangerous Content which prohibits content that encourages or promotes behavior that encourages dangerous or illegal activities that risk serious physical harm or death.”

• The same AI system is denying appeal claims as it is deleting videos. It’s not believed by others that Microsoft did this, but instead it’s YouTube’s algorithm.

• YouTube won’t tell you what you did wrong – it’s up to you to figure it out.

Posted by nixCraft on FaceBook yesterday: “Apparently, YouTube is taking down videos that explain how to perform nonstandard Windows 11 installations. Videos from several creators have been removed on topics including how to install Windows 11 without logging into a Microsoft account and how to install it on unsupported hardware. Microsoft is doing everything to push away at least power users from its OS.”

The point

“If creating a local account in Windows violates youtube’s policies, I don’t know what I can create anymore”, and it couldn’t be said any better. This discourages creativity, unique solutions, and platform diversity. Many individuals make their livelihoods through YouTube’s monetization, and this will lead people to start challenging their own faith in the future of the platform, as well as their participation in it.

I echo the fears of a colder, more calculating society as AI grows in prominence. Computers cannot be reasoned with, hard-coded with self-righteousness, deleting the soul of humanity, like degradation on a VHS. Intellect, diversity, innovation, and art are at risk of being stifled – where do we draw the line?
