On October 30th 2025, Low End Mac highlighted how YouTube was taking down videos about nonstandard Windows installs. In the days since there’s been a new development, but for some the event still looms in the air like a dark cloud. Will YouTube restore the videos for others as well?

On average in Late 2025, 500 hours worth of videos are uploaded to YouTube every minute. Do they realistically have enough manpower to moderate everything, or do they rely on at least some automation?
.
New Development
CyberCPU Tech managed to successfully appeal the takedowns, with the videos restored to his channel without restriction. “Well, it’s been a long week, but in the end, we won! All the videos YouTube removed have been restored..” he says on an update to the situation.

He makes a good point in his video by calling out the second message for defending the “initial action”, YouTube claiming it was “not the result of automation”, however, they are “using this as an opportunity to improve in the future.”
- Basically: Is the initial action the takedown, the review, or both instances at the same time?
No single human individual is able to credibly and consistently mirror the entire creative talent pool of YouTube while simultaneously being an expert judge on every bit of content that exists on the website at the same time. The closest example to this description IS AI. “Content creators should be able to explain their content, they know their content best.”
Greg Hrutkay put out a video (which I watched) on how to get an unsupported Windows 10 install to continue getting security updates until 2032, while others made videos about nonstandard Windows 11 installs.

Now that YouTube rescinded the community standard violation for CyberCPU Tech, if they are to retain the integrity of these community standards, they must apply to all – or not. If they don’t, this will further erode the credibility, respect, and especially enforceability of such standards. Until the platform changes this, the reality is as such: if you make a video on this specific topic, it’s uncertain what’ll happen. At least so far, Rich has his video restored.
.
Greg Hrutkay is still waiting
Creators shouldn’t be scared to make videos, and as Rich said: “Prioritizing correction vs punishment would make this a better platform.”. The issue persists, as the actions of YouTube reflect that of an inconsistent policy approach for different channels, without explanation.
The reality is, there were negative consequences without effective explanation for multiple channels, which did mostly the same thing, yet, only one channel had their videos restored so far. Until this changes, YouTube policy is De-Facto case-by-case. If we want new creators to have the same faith as some of the larger channels, we need to go to bat for them as well.
Our economy, particularly our tech industry, was built upon innovation, trying new things, engineering ideas and examples to overcome challenges, and explore. To stifle the soul of creativity through craft or confusion, whilst simultaneously having risen from a culture of experimentation, is to bite the hand of the civilization from which it came.
- Update: As of 15:31 EST November 2nd 2025, Britec09 had his channel strike removed. We are still waiting for action to take place on Greg’s channel, hopefully this is part of an ongoing process.
