Back from the Low End Mac Mailbag is an interesting custom Power Mac G4 Cube from a new contributor in our FaceBook group, Chris Tee. He spray paints it, modifies it, upgrading it into space… and beyond!
Chris: “For my first post here…I wanted to share something I’ve been working on since 2023, and I think I can finally call it done: Something called the “Satanicube”. Named as such because I got it from BetterBit of the Satanic Mac Club.

Started out kinda modest…with some 3D-printed addons to keep the innards (including the GeForce 3) from baking to death on the show floor at VCF West ’23. Worked well, considering the HVAC failure and things getting hot, yet the Cube never skipping a beat. Even with a 1.4GHz Sonnet accelerator in it.

But then…more upgrades! Last year, several happened: I was able to get a Stratos VRM for it so I could throw even MORE upgrades into it, coupled with a 1.8GHz NewerTech G4, and the PowerLogix expanded chassis off a friendo on Discord. I was also able to get a copper heatspreader made via a friend of a friend so the 1.8 G4 could sing in here.

Said friend on Discord has his own cube that was given a trippy custom paint job, and, well, I was inspired, and given the PowerLogix chassis displays the innards of the Cube (and mine were kinda banged up) I decided to use some color shifting paint and make this Cube truly my own. And this is the final result.
