We almost lost VAIO, Sony’s brand for its nicest looking PCs. Visually, Sony seems to be the only one trying to take on Apple design without simply copying what Apple is doing.
The PC industry is in a tailspin, so Sony decided to unload its VAIO line and focus on more profitable areas in February. Japan Industrial Partners to the rescue of the well respected brand, and as of today, VAIO Corporation is selling the VAIO Fit and VAIO Pro notebook computers in the Japanese market.
To show there is no ill will between the companies, Sony even features the new VAIO models in its online store.
Time will tell whether VAIO is profitable and whether it will expand to other markets.
A word of thanks to Lee Joonmin of our Low End PC community on Facebook for sharing this news.
