While we recently talked about adding Intel CPUs to our tech spec index, there have also been a number of ongoing changes and updates which haven’t been covered before, so they will be covered here for our readers.
This article reflects the updates to the site within the past week, which wouldn’t otherwise be known about unless clicked-on or discovered. The goal is to provide insight as to what’s being done and where you can find it.
- 1: Intel CPUs were added to our tech spec index. This was already covered in a previous article, so details will not be added here.
. - 2: As promised in this prior article the following day an icon view was added for the intel CPU tech spec index. This is separated into 28 categories, based on their codename. An icon view will be added for each of the 28 sub-categories at some point, and it is planned to have an article for each one of the generations detailing the iterations and their importance.
- List view is accessible still, by clicking the icon next to the search bar that looks like a list.
- 3: Articles were uncovered for the 68K and PowerPC CPUs, organized into their own indexes, and built out into an icon/list view. The Low End Mac CPU index stands mostly complete, the structure is all here, and there is information/an article on mostly every single CPU ever.
- 4: Multiple links were fixed in the Intel CPU index that was recently published where it pointed to the incorrect articles.
. - 5: Multiple links were fixed in the MacBook Air index Icon view which sent readers to the incorrect articles.
- 6: It has been noticed some outstanding/potentially duplicate articles are still littered with “online resources”, however they are few and far between. As soon as one is noticed, it is checked whether or not the index links to this article, and the appropriate changes are made. These links are always moved to their separate page.
. - 7: A glitch has been spotted where for some reason the 13″/15″ 2016 MacBook Pro articles have mysteriously disappeared, despite there being two separate versions of such articles earlier (my own and Dan’s). These will be restored as soon as possible, or rewritten.
. - 8: Multiple links were fixed in the Mac mini index Icon view which sent readers to the incorrect articles.
- 9: The 2018 Mac mini article has been updated.
Upcoming Plans, ideas, and mojo
- Continuously updating the website in key areas while also creating new articles.
. - While updating old articles (especially the intel and PowerPC ones), the CPU names will begin having hyperlinks in them pointing back to individual articles in our own CPU index. This will take a long time.
. - Building out a GPU index alongside this CPU index, when possible. There is barely a GPU index for now.
. - It has been decided the site’s theme is to remain permanent – as in, to stay true to the site’s existing style. We want to remain committed to modernizing Low End Mac while simultaneously being accessible on older Macs/browsers. The upcoming additions to the tech specs and any new page will fall in line with the same style that’s been recently deployed for uniformity. The sidebar remains to be changed and could be removed if it makes it easier to navigate and doesn’t cause any issues with how the pages have been made so far.
. - While the idea of a software repository has been floated and we have even launched our own small sort of thing on our own website, there are no aims to replicate any repository.. especially as storage is limited. Software additions will continue to be made and some initial limitations have been overcome, however, this will remain a more curated “bag of goodies you can find on Low End Mac”.
.- Editor’s note: If I find something useful that isn’t to be found anywhere else yet – I’ll upload it here before anywhere else.

- As this website grows again, we’re looking for writers to write articles and help out, too.
In Conclusion
I may sound like a broken record when I say this, but I hope Low End Mac continues to be a resource for all throughout the years, especially as it continues to grow and evolve through 2025 and beyond. With this addition and others, we aim to perpetuate this vision.. Looking back at the work done, it’s exciting to see people engage with the site and enjoy the changes being made.
