Power Macintosh 8600

Power Mac 8600Althoughit used the same cleverly designed case as the 9600, the 8600was a less costly, less expandable machine. It had 8 DIMM sockets forRAM, four less than the 9600, and 3 PCI slots, down from six in the9600.

The 250 and 300 MHz versions sometimes had an extra powerful560W power supply (vs. 390W on the regular 9600) to drive the powerhungry 250 and 300 MHz 604e processor. These models also has a1 MB L2 cache, 64 MB of RAM, and 8 MB of videomemory.
