LEM in the process of updating and reformatting old articles

As we are nearing completion of the “tech spec” index on Low End Mac with the release of the final remaining Intel iMac articles, we are looking into revamping existing articles overall. A lot of things have changed over time, much new software has released, community projects developed, etc; and it’s worth reflecting such things for informational accuracy among other reasons. Moreover, we want our existing articles to be as useful and readable as possible for our visitors – so we’re working on reformatting and standardizing informational content on older articles.

Examples of old articles updated/with new formatting so far

What You Need To Know

  • Installing the updated information and formatting style on the older articles may take some time. If you would like to see our work in progress, click on some of the links in this article above.
  • As a result of this focus, the pace of newly minted articles will slow down for a time, but new articles will still be made.
  • We will be focusing on adding new, relevant information as well as keeping as similar of a style as possible across all articles, to make it easier to read/on the eyes. Feedback welcome.
  • Old articles aren’t being totally rewritten from scratch – existing information will be used too. Sometimes though – an article will contain a lot of new information previously not in the article, and may look totally different!
  • Thank you for all your support throughout the years! We are happy to continue working on the website in order to provide a community supported informational resource.
  • We believe in the long term value of Apple hardware. You should be able to use your Apple gear as long as it helps you remain productive and meets your needs, upgrading only as necessary. We want to help maximize the life of your Apple gear.

  1. This is awesome, this has sorely been needed for some time. Hope these refinement bring the site into the current era, especially the mention of out of date parts, such as hard drives.

    • If you have any feedback or specific things to point out, we welcome it. As many eyes are needed as possible to point everything out! It will be a gradual process. Many longer articles (particularly tech specs) already have much relevant info related to the devices themselves, but need certain things updated to reflect 2025 and beyond! SSD’s are the way to go for sure – not so much HDD’s anymore. This article you commented on may periodically have it’s list of “updated articles” updated, too, as a navigational piece.
