Performa 6300 'the Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship'

- 2007.07.24

In late 1993, I started using Corel Draw and an early version of Adobe Illustrator in college. I worked on Windows PCs, and I hated every single one of them.

Then the university got us Performa 6300s in early 1996. It was, as in Casablanca, the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Although for our standards they may seem slow now, these machines really caught my eye and my heart. I never looked back, and I have been a Mac user ever since.

A graphite iMac.

I got 3-D animation, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and I could use the software very easily! Afterwards, my first computer at home was a 7200, and later I replaced it with a now-upgraded graphite iMac. I still use it, and I am planning to get a PowerBook G3, since I don't have a lot of money - and Macs with Intels are a very low punch to the loyal users.

Computers may come and go, but I still fondly remember my first Mac! LEM
