Patrick McCloskey - 2001.07.27
The top 10 reasons that Steve Jobs didn't announce a new flat
panel iMac at Macworld Expo last week:
- It just wasn't ready yet.
- He was too tired (only had 3 hours of sleep the night before
his keynote, exactly why he only got that much sleep may be
the topic of yet another future top ten list).
- Apple just wasn't ready to take on the deluge of new orders
they would get for it (too busy producing new iBooks right
now).
- Couldn't think of a cool new name for it.
- Flat panels are not inexpensive enough yet.
- Flat panels are not available in enough quantity yet because
they are using them all to make the (now on back order)
iBooks.
- Waiting for September when OS X 10.1 comes out.
- Waiting for September when the investor climate improves.
- Waiting for Microsoft to finish XP so they can announce that
the XP OS runs on Macs too now (so say some rumors).
- Waiting to announce it at around the same time that Microsoft
announces the release of XP to steal some of their thunder!
